Chara pole
The Chara pole is a tapered column of circular section in hot-dip galvanised steel, drawn by Studio ATA. Its base consists of a tapered steel-sheet cylinder with a cast aluminium inspection hatch, while a cast iron top element with a diagonal cut gives the pole its recognisable finish. Carrying up to two light sources, the pole forms the basis of the Chara system, in which pole, top and luminaire can be freely combined. Among other projects, it lights the renewed promenade on Ostas Street in Ventspils.

Basis of the Chara system
The Chara pole, top and luminaire are designed as matching building blocks. For each project you compose an arrangement that fits the profile of the street or square, with one or two light sources per pole. The result is a consistent lighting image throughout the public space.
